Improved integer linear programming formulations for the job Sequencing and tool Switching Problem

چکیده
In this article we investigate the job Sequencing and tool Switching Problem (SSP), a NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem arising from computer andmanufacturing systems. Starting from the results described in Tang and Denardo (1987), Crama et al. (1994) and Laporte et al. (2004), we develop new integer linear programming formulations for the problem that are provably better than the alternative ones currently described in the literature. Computational experiments show that the lower bounds obtained by the linear relaxation of the considered formulations improve, on average, upon those currently described in the literature and suggest, at the same time, new directions for the development of future exact solution approaches. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. Solving Single Machine Sequencing to Minimize Maximum Lateness Problem Using Mixed Integer Programming
Despite existing various integer programming for sequencing problems, there is not enoughinformation about practical values of the models. This paper considers the problem of minimizing maximumlateness with release dates and presents four different mixed integer programming (MIP) models to solve thisproblem. These models have been formulated for the classical single machine problem, namely sequ...
متن کاملVarious Mathematical Programming Formulations for a General One Machine Sequencing Problem
The paper considers the problem of scheduling n jobs on a single machine to minimize the number of tardy jobs (or late jobs). Each job has a release date, a processing time and a due date. The general case with non-equal release dates and diierent due dates is considered. Various mixed-integer linear programming formulations are presented and discussed. A new polynomial solvable case is also in...
متن کاملAn L1-norm method for generating all of efficient solutions of multi-objective integer linear programming problem
This paper extends the proposed method by Jahanshahloo et al. (2004) (a method for generating all the efficient solutions of a 0–1 multi-objective linear programming problem, Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research). This paper considers the recession direction for a multi-objective integer linear programming (MOILP) problem and presents necessary and sufficient conditions to have unbounde...
متن کاملA Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem with Controllable Processing Times to Optimize Total Cost of Delay and Processing
In this paper, the flexible job shop scheduling problem with machine flexibility and controllable process times is studied. The main idea is that the processing times of operations may be controlled by consumptions of additional resources. The purpose of this paper to find the best trade-off between processing cost and delay cost in order to minimize the total costs. The proposed model, flexibl...
متن کاملMachine scheduling for multitask machining
Multitasking is an important part of today’s manufacturing plants. Multitask machine tools are capable of processing multiple operations at the same time by applying a different set of part and tool holding devices. Mill-turns are multitask machines with the ability to perform a variety of operations with considerable accuracy and agility. One critical factor in simultaneous machining is to cre...
